Changing YOUR Mental Attitude in a Crisis
It’s a well-known fact that MOST people struggle when they are faced with a crisis, and let’s not beat about the bush, the current world coronavirus pandemic is a crisis. But it is also a well-known fact that a small number of people in the world THRIVE when faced with the very SAME crisis. Now what’s the difference between these people?
My mentor Jim Rohn always said to me:
THE STRUGGLERS
You see, some people go into panic and crisis mode which can cause paralysis and fear. They then react to whatever is thrown at them by the people they are associating with, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter – and importantly, the national and international press. Their attention is thus controlled by whatever is being thrown at them which can seriously affect their mental ability to function as normal. However, it is important to note that all of this stuff is just the wind that blows and you can change it.
THE EXCEPTIONS
At the same time as the strugglers struggle, there are those who are the exception, the people who proactively take control of their own lives. Their businesses thrive, their family lives thrive, EVERYTHING thrives! Now these people understand that even though the wind is blowing, the same wind blows on us all. The wind is not known for playing tricks on us. It’s the same wind for everyone.
SO HOW DO YOU BECOME THE EXCEPTION?
Even in these unprecedented and unpredictable times, it is possible to become the exception. How do we change from being strugglers to be the exception? Well, you need to write down the little note above; “The same wind blows on us all”. You may say then “How come this wind is not blowing me to a good place, but it is with others?”. The answer is that you cannot just rely on the wind, the difference between the strugglers and the exceptions is NOT the wind, it is The set of the sail.
Make the note again, write it down:
THAT IS THE KEY POINT I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY – THE SET OF THE SAIL…
· That’s what the sermon is for on a Sunday Morning,
· That’s what the books in your library are for,
· That’s what self-education and learning is for,
· That’s what school is for…
…to set a better sail. Set a better sail so that the wind doesn’t just blow you onto the rocks or the beach. Some people do so little constructive thinking or reading or self-education that they don’t even have their sail up! Where do you think that will lead them in the next few weeks, few months, few years?
So change your thinking, be careful what you listen to, who you listen to, who you associate with, get your library started and start reading the books TODAY and make the decision TODAY to set a better sail. After a while, you can get so good at this that you could couldn’t care less about the wind that blows! It will not frighten you anymore as the wind will take you to exactly where you want to go. The set of the sale is the difference between success and failure.
And remember – Take Action Now! – without action there are no results.
Yours in health, wealth and happiness.
My name’s Paul, and I’m your friend.
